As some of you may know, the 2010 Sundance Film Festival kicked off today, and one of the films set to screen this year is Daniel Grou’s French-Canadian revenge thriller 7 DAYS. And since it’s been over 2 months since we saw a trailer for the film, we thought we’d be kind enough to shank y’all with a pair of alternate trailers to heighten the awareness (below, yo!)
Penned by Patrick Senecal (adapted from his own novel), 7 DAYS tells the story of Bruno Hamel, a thirty eight year old surgeon. He lives in Drummondville with his wife Sylvie, and their eight year-old daughter Jasmine. Like many happy people, he is leading an uneventful life until a beautiful fall afternoon, when his daughter is raped and murdered. From then on, the world of the Hamel family collapses. When the murderer is arrested, a terrible project germinates in Bruno’s darkened mind. He plans to capture the “monster” and make him pay for his crime. The day the murderer appears in Court, Hamel, who had prepared his plan in great detail, kidnaps the monster and later sends the police a brief message stating that the rapist and murderer of his daughter was going to be tortured for 7 days and then executed. Once this task accomplished, he will then give himself up.
Wow. And I thought Liam Neeson had balls in TAKEN, here’s a dude willing to serve penance after gorily felling a foe. That shit is hard!
Of course, execution of such may be a bit tricky. Especially considering Grou has only a bench of TV credits to his name. Who knows, maybe the dude will strike some beginners luck.
Remy Girard, Claude Legault, Martin Dubreuil, Fanny Mallette, Rose-Marie Coallier, and Pascale Delhaes comprise the small cast.
The first Sundance screening of 7 DAYS will take place on Jan. 22nd at 11:30 P.M.
