Two Sisters gets a remake

I was fairly sure the J-horror remake train had come to a halt, sometime right after THE GRUDGE 2 came out. I guess I was mistaken, because not only is THE EYE in production now, but the gears are turning for a redo of A TALE OF TWO SISTERS.

Shock Till You Drop passes along a union listing, which states that Dreamworks/Paramount are the studios behind it. Dreamworks of course pretty much began this trend when it successfully remade THE RING.

In the movie, two sisters return home from a mental hospital, only to find that their father has a not-so-nice new wife. Complicating matters is a “ghost” that comes calling. I’ve seen the flick – and there’s a game-changing twist about halfway through that you’ll either love or hate. It will be interesting to see if this remake keeps this intact (without it, the movie is fairly by-the-numbers, with the exception of the wicked stepmother, who’s terrific).
