Is “Bates Motel” positioning itself as the next “American Horror Story?” Could very well be, especially when you consider these two brief TV spots that have recently appeared. Short and to the point, both offer creepy visuals of terror without giving away anything in the way of plot or character information. Watch them below and weigh in – after checking out a handful of new pics from the show, as well.

“Bates Motel” will give viewers an intimate understanding of how Norman Bates’ psyche developed from his childhood through his teen years. Fans will have access to the dark, twisted backstory and learn firsthand how his mother, Norma, and her lover damaged Norman, helping forge the most well-known serial killing motel owner in history.

The series, which kicks off sometime in 2013 on A&E, stars Freddie Highmore, Vera Farmiga, Nestor Carbonell and Mike Vogel.
