Screen Daily is reporting that the Korean man-eating boar flick CHAW has been picked up for UK distribution at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival by Optimum Releasing. While no North American release has not been set yet, it’s only a matter of time for the wheels to start turning in the right direction.
As a recap, Jeong-won Shin’s CHAW is a black comedy about the events that are set into motion in a town after a man-eating boar goes on a rampage. I’m sure there’s more to it than that, but what more do you need? A giant killer boar on a rampage. ‘Nuff said. It’s also nice to hear that they went with a more tongue-in-cheek tone, as I don’t know anyone who could take a killer board movie too seriously. But poke fun at it? I’m so there!
CHAW was a fairly big hit in Korea, so it’s no surprise it scored one of the first distribution deals at this year’s TIFF. Now how about that North American release? No UK release date has been officially announced, but stick around as we wait and find out!
