Normally we reserve this space for our “Cool Videos” segment, where we share with you videos that we think are, well, cool. I’m going slightly off reservation with today’s column as this video is decidedly UNCOOL.
At last night’s MY SOUL TO TAKE premiere in New York City, someone thought it would be a good idea to stage a fake stabbing on the red carpet. What transpires is one of the lamest publicity stunts you’ll ever lay witness to. I don’t know who came up with the bit (I don’t want to point fingers until I know who was behind it) but that person should probably sit the next few plays out. I can’t remember the last time I’ve felt such second-hand embarrassment for everyone involved.
It’s so obviously fake it’s ridiculous and honestly if it didn’t look fake, it’d be even more embarrassing. What are you trying to gain by having a realistic (or fake) stabbing on your red carpet, inches away from your talent? I only wish there was a reaction video of the assembled jaded NYC press corps.
