Uncoupled teaser: Breakups suck but being single doesn’t have to in Neil Patrick Harris series

Many of us will experience a handful of breakups throughout our lives. They suck. That’s just how it goes, but one can typically find that a new journey is just around the corner. Netflix has released the first teaser trailer for Uncoupled, a new comedy series starring Neil Patrick Harris as a newly single man in New York City.

Created by Darren Star (Sex and the City) and Jeffrey Richman (Modern Family), Uncoupled follows Michael (Harris), a man who thought his life was perfect until his husband blindsided him by walking out the door after 17 years. “Overnight, Michael has to confront two nightmares — losing what he thought was his soulmate and suddenly finding himself a single gay man in his mid-forties in New York City,” reads the official logline. As the Uncoupled teaser shows, that nightmare might not be quite so bad.

In addition to Neil Patrick Harris, Uncoupled also stars Tisha Campbell (Martin) as Michael’s business partner Suzanne; Brooks Ashmanskas (The Good Lord Bird) as Stanley, an art dealer; Emerson Brooks (The Last Ship) as TV weatherman Billy; and Marcia Gay Harden (Code Black) as socialite Claire. Neil Patrick Harris is of course best known for starring in Doogie Howser, M.D., as well as playing Barney Stinson in How I Met Your Mother, but this won’t be his first time starring in a Netflix series. Harris played Count Olaf in Netflix’s A Series of Unfortunate Events, which concluded in 2019 after three seasons.

Consisting of eight episodes, Uncoupled will debut on Netflix on July 29, 2022.
