Those crazy kids Michael and Peter Spierig, directors of the upcoming UNDEAD (read the Arrow’s review here) sat down and chatted with Now Playing Magazine, and dropped some sweet info. on their latest project, DAYBREAKERS.
So what direction do the brothers who conquered zombies in UNDEAD take? Vampires, of course! Here’s what the bros. had to say:
“[The vampires] have tried to continue their lives as normal people. Human beings are on the brink of extinction [and] it’s just a matter of time before the entire human population is wiped out. Vampires will suffer an eternity of starvation and madness if they can’t find an alternative to human blood, [but] one man discovers a solution that will save the vampire race – they must become human again.”
Sounds phat- especially coming from these guys! But don’t expect the same campy fun from this one- DAYBREAKERS is looking to be much darker, and more serious than UNDEAD.
It’s been awhile since we’ve seen a truly awesome vampire flick (no, VAMPIRES doesn’t count), and this one could just be the one we’ve all been waiting for (and BLADE: TRINITY doesn’t count either).
Be sure to catch UNDEAD in theaters this July, while DAYBREAKERS is looking at a 2006 release.
