Damn, love sure can be a f*cked up thing. At least, that seems to be the case for this crazy upcoming supernatural indie called THE UNDYING. And no, this flick isn’t about necrophilia… well, not exactly. I really should just get on with the plot, so you can know what I know and thus see where I’m coming from. Make sense? No? Well, here’s the plot:
Dr. Barbara Houghton moves into a rural Pennsylvania farmhouse as she starts a job at a hospital. Still reeling from the death of her fiancé, she becomes intrigued by the story of Elijah, a Civil War soldier whose ghost supposedly haunts her new home. When Jason, a stabbing victim she has treated, is taken off life support, she steals his body and takes it to the farmhouse, where it becomes the vessel for Elijah to live again. A romance develops between them—but it gets complicated when the spirit of Jason, a violent felon in his previous life, begins reasserting his control over his own body.
What the f*ck?! See, I even read through the synopsis again and couldn’t help making that previous statement. Clearly, this is meant to be one strange freakin’ tale, but still a very intriguing one nonetheless. Plus, the flick’s director, Steven Peros, notes that many of the effects shots were done on camera without annoying, usually fake-looking CGI. Peros also co-wrote the script with producer, David M. Flynn. The cast includes Robin Weigert, Anthony Carrigan, Jay O. Sanders, Sybil Temtchine and Wes Studi. I’ll keep my eye out for any further UNDYING release news.
