I’ve been a fan of Adrienne Barbeau’s ever since I first saw her in SWAMP THING. Recently she’s been working the crazy snake lady thing on HBO’s CARNIVALE, but Dread Central reports that she’ll be returning to feature horror with the current production UNHOLY.
Barbeau plays a MILF, who after the unexplained suicide of her daughter decides to play detective with her son. What they find is that the girl was into some freaky shite involving on experiment called “The Unholy Trinity”, which somehow ties into Nazi witchcraft (whatever the hell that is), and members of our own government.
Apparently the flick is based on a conspiracy myth in Pennsylvania. Writer Sam Freeman had this to say about that:
“I’ve always been a huge fan of Horror films. It was my goal to write a film that wasn’t your standard straight-to-video fare or pastiche of films that have come before, but rather an original creation based on an unpopular myth. Whether it is unpopular because the area of PA is so isolated, or for other conspiracy-esque reasons…I guess we’ll never know.”
Sounds interesting enough to forgive him the use of the word pastiche.
