There are some comic books out there that would just be too difficult to make into a movie… or at least, difficult to make well. Boom! Studios‘ TAG may be one of them, but slap my ass and call me Susan if I can’t wait to see them try! According to The Hollywood Reporter this morning, Universal Studios has picked up the rights to TAG, and has hired Carey Malloy to adapt it.
Not familiar with TAG? Neither was I until today, but check out the comic’s/film’s premise:
The story is set in motion when an average Joe strolls down the street after a fight with his girlfriend and a random stranger tags him, handing off an ancient pagan curse. He begins to literally die, seeing his body decompose every day before his eyes. Cursed, he must either surrender or find the next victim to tag.
Yeah, you like that shite? Sounds like a way cooler version of FALLEN, and possibly the most f*cked up game of tag ever attempted. This may just be one of the cooler projects in the works right now! Not that a director, or any actors, or anything besides the writing part is in motion, but damn it if it doesn’t sound cool! And after checking out some of the comic art, I’d say it’s official… I’m totally in! Stick around for more news and updates on Universal’s TAG as we hear it!
