Universal Pictures is really getting the ball rolling with their upcoming bloodsucking tale DRACULA as they’ve just announced that the flick will hit theaters on August 8, 2014. Luke Evans just recently nabbed the leading role in the film which tells origin story of the most famous of vampires.

The script tells of a young prince who, when the lives of his wife and child are put in danger by a bloodthirsty sultan, risks his soul to save them, and in the process becomes the first vampire.

The latest draft of the script was written by Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless with Michael De Luca producing and commercial helmer Gary Shore taking a seat in the director’s chair. It’s nice to see this one getting fast tracked after it seemed all but dead not too long ago — hopefully it doesn’t suck!
