TNT has announced that it's developing a television series based on Jaume Collet-Serra's 2011 thriller Unknown. The one-hour drama will take its cues from the original film, which starred Liam Neeson as Martin Harris, a doctor who lost his memory after a car accident and woke up to find his identity taken and the target of mysterious assassins. However, rather than focusing on Harris, the series will feature a new lead character that has been placed in a precarious situation.

Collet-Serra will direct and executive produce the series, while Sean Finegan (Free Fall) will write the pilot and executive produce. Karl Gajdusek (Stranger Things) and Speed Weed (Arrow) will serve as executive producers and showrunners. Ethan Erwin, Alex Mace, and Hal Sadoff of Dark Castle are also executive producers, alongside Erik Olsen (The Dirt) and Neeson.

Collet-Serra's Unknown was adapted from the 2003 French novel by Didier Van Cauwelaert. In addition to Neeson, it also starred Diane Kruger, January Jones, Aidan Quinn, Frank Langella, and Sebastian Koch, among others.

Everyone knows that amnesia can be a hell of a thing, especially when it's a plot device for your intricate action thriller. I could this series going in any number of directions as it dabbles with shattered memories, mysterious characters, and bread crumbs that lead toward danger.
