M. Night Shyamalan’s upcoming thriller has release pushed back indefinitely

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

No one from Philadelphia has had more career comebacks than M. Night Shyamalan, unless maybe you count ROCKY. And it's great to see the man back on his feet after apparent career killers like THE LAST AIRBENDER and AFTER EARTH, with SPLIT and to a certain extent his latest GLASS showing us he still has the thriller chops that made us fall in love with him in the first place.

So it was with that momentum (even if I was ultimately mixed on GLASS) that I was looking forward to his upcoming thriller at Universal, which was set to be released in theaters February 26th, 2021, and said to be "weird and dark". Of course, with what's happening around the world (in some ways not too dissimilar to Shyamalan's own THE HAPPENING), all production has ceased, including this one. At this point the as-of-yet untitled Shyamalan film doesn't have a firm release date, but it's expected to start production the moment things settle.

At least you can still view the Apple series SERVANT – which Shyamalan executive produced and directed some episodes for –  which will presumably go in production on its recently announced second season once things get back to normal.
