Untitled X-Men Marvel drama gets a pilot order from Fox

These days, comic book-related television shows are a dime a dozen. So it should come as no surprise that Fox has greenlit a pilot episode to be shot for an UNTITLED MARVEL X-MEN DRAMA series. The action-heavy pilot will come from the mind of BURN NOTICE creator Matt Nix, courtesy of 20th Century Fox Television and Marvel Television.

From what we’ve read, this project has been in the work for quite some time. In fact, I swear that I recall hearing whispers about it during my time at New York City Comic Con 2016. The story in question – now that a re-worked script has been been given the thumbs up by Fox – will focus on two ordinary parents who learn that their children do indeed possess mutant powers. As a result, the family is left with no choice but to pack their bags and make haste as a shadowy and inhospitable division of government agents is hot on their trail. After catching their breath, the family enlists with a group of underground mutants who are also doing their best to survive in a harsh world that lives in fear of their extraordinary abilities.

The show is executively produced by Matt Nix, with Bryan Singer, Lauren Shuler Donner, Simon Kinsberg, Marvel’s Jeph Loeb and Jim Chory making up the rest of the team. Hot damn, that is quite the lineup of power players lending their experience to the making of this new and exciting show.

What do you all think? Are theaters and television screens becoming far too saturated with comic book characters, or are you up for yet another Marvel/X-Men-inspired romp? By the way, this is not me being dismissive, I actually think this project holds a lot of promise. I dig the premise of the show, and there are some mighty fine people going to bat for its creation. For now, I’m just chomping at the bit for FX’s LEGION to hit on February 8th, 2017. We’ll be sure to bring you more news on this new Marvel-related endeavor as things progress.
