The folks over at MTV caught up with producer Edward Pressman to talk about one thing: what’s going on with the upcoming remake of THE CROW from director Stephen Norrington? Lucky for us, Pressman was in a talkative mood and had lots to share of this abomination.
First up, had one casting update as to who will be playing the role previously idolized by Brandon Lee: [We’ve got an offer out] to a major actor and things are moving ahead very aggressively, with the aim of doing the film this year.
Hopefully moving aggressively doesn’t mean the same thing as moving too fast, or “rushing” as we all know what movies end up being like when they’re rushed. Pressman also talked about the different type of movie Norrington’s CROW is going to be from the film by Alex Proyas.
Obviously it’s a different time and a different idea, but I think Stephen is a very talented fellow and I’m very excited to work with him. I think it’s a very different conception [than the original film]. After the first ‘Crow,’ there were so many other films that were inspired by it, by its look. Steve is an artist himself, and he’s created a very different visual idea.
The idea of rebooting (i.e., remaking) THE CROW doesn’t sit well with me, but hearing that they’re going to at least try something different is… ok. I guess. F*ck it, this thing still pisses me off. Why remake such a solid film as THE CROW? Be like the others and just produce a crappy STD sequel and move on like everybody else!
