UPDATE: Check out the all new poster for the film below, brought to us by the IMP Awards!

What do you get when you have one movie playing at the Sundance Film Festival about a cannibalistic vagina (yes, you heard that right) and two big-name distributors interested? You get the phenomena known as TEETH, that has just been picked up by Lionsgate and The Weinstein Co. for distribution. Best part of it? The studios plan on releasing the film theatrically in all of its uncut form… which will likely score a NC-17 rating. Sweet!

Written and directed by Mitchell Lichtenstein, TEETH tells the story of a virginal girl whose vagina turns into a secret weapon. As in, it has a pair of teeth that eats anything it doesn’t like. Ouch! How we haven’t seen a movie like this before is beyond me… and how it actually got picked up by both Lionsgate and The Weinstein Co. is even stranger- but no bother, bring on the TEETH!

While I can’t see this flick being released theatrically, I can see it taking cult status very quickly- and when it hits video, it’d be interesting to see if it’ll be rented exclusively at BLOCKBUSTER, per the new Weinstein deal. Considering Blockbuster’s views on censoring movies, I’d hate to see what would happen if they had the only rentable version of the movie about a man-eating vagina. But I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.
