Val Kilmer shares his ideas for Heat 2 and Top Gun 2

JoBloJoBlo

Do you remember when Val Kilmer was awesome? You know, back when he was Iceman and Madmartigan? Back before he became a VOD joke of himself, Val Kilmer was as cool as anyone in Hollywod. Now, he is reduced to movies that are Redbox exclusives. But, with rumors circulating about a sequel to TOP GUN, Kilmer is once again voicing his take on the potential sequels to his prior successes.

In an interview with Larry King, Kilmer shared his idea for a sequel to Michael Mann‘s HEAT, a film he kicked major ass in:

“Here’s my pitch. You remember Natalie Portman in it? She’s Pacino’s adopted daughter, so she comes home and says, ‘Daddy, daddy, I want you to meet my fiancé.’ And it’s me. He’s retired and I come to Chicago where he’s retired back to and I’m going to torture him, and then I’m going to kill him.”

Not awful but not good enough to warrant a sequel to HEAT. I mean, if you think about it, Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, and Kilmer are all way past their prime. Unless Mann came back, HEAT 2 would be awful. I would much rather see these three actors in a new project instead.

Kilmer was also asked about the still in development TOP GUN 2:

“I think it wouldn’t be that difficult to maintain the spirit of it,” Kilmer said about following in the footsteps of the original. “Tony was the most generous, positive director I’ve ever worked for in film. He’s not known as an actor’s director because he’s such a vivid stylist with the camera … but he really loved acting and getting the shot.”

So, Val Kilmer likely would not turn down a paycheck for either film, but he is also not looking quite like Iceman these days. Tom Cruise could pull it off, but Kilmer is looking rough. At least there is always THE EXPENDABLES 4.
