I’ve heard a lot of good things about WHAT WE DO IN THE SHADOWS, the comedic vampire mockumentary from New Zealanders Jemaine Clement (“Flight of the Conchords” and Taika Waititi. The film has been hitting all the major festivals – Sundance, Berlin and just now Toronto – and has finally received a distribution deal that’ll ensure the rest of us get to see what all the raving is about.

The Orchard has partnered with Unison Film and Funny Or Die to bring WHAT WE DO IN THE SHADOWS to multiple platforms at an undisclosed time. The Orchard will distribute on VOD and DVD, while Unison will give it a theatrical release. Funny or Die will be handling the marketing.

Here’s the synopsis, followed by the trailer.

Follow the lives of Viago (Taika Waititi), Deacon (Jonathan Brugh), and Vladislav (Jemaine Clement) – three flatmates who are just trying to get by and overcome life’s obstacles-like being immortal vampires who must feast on human blood. Hundreds of years old, the vampires are finding that beyond sunlight catastrophes, hitting the main artery, and not being able to get a sense of their wardrobe without a reflection-modern society has them struggling with the mundane like paying rent, keeping up with the chore wheel, trying to get into nightclubs, and overcoming flatmate conflicts.

We’ll let you know the release dates as soon as we get ’em!
