I was at the mall the other day and could not help spotting countless banners (like the one above) boasting the brand new CW series THE VAMPIRE DIARIES. Now, before you start saying that this is just another version of lame-o TWILIGHT, I urge you to check out the show’s website right here. You’ll find a bountiful bodice of fresh, cool crap from pictures to video clips to actor profiles and more! Best of all, everything seems to be of a much cooler ilk than that ill-conceived Bella and Edward junk.

Here’s a taste of how this series’ plot slays: Elena Gilbert has always been a star student; beautiful, popular and involved with school and friends. As the fall semester begins, Elena becomes fascinated with the mysterious new boy in school, Stefan Salvatore, and she has no way of knowing he is a centuries-old vampire. While Stefan struggles to live peacefully among humans, his brother Damon is the embodiment of violence and brutality. Now these two vampire brothers, one good, one evil, are at war for Elena’s soul in the small town of Mystic Falls, Virginia.

I think I’ll be giving this show a shot once it premiers on September 10th at 8pm on The CW. The cast is composed of Nina Dobrev (below), Paul Wesley, Ian Somerhalder, Steven R. McQueen, Sara Canning, Katerina Graham, Candice Accola (below), Zach Roerig, Kayla Ewell, Michael Trevino, and Chris William Martin.
