Vera Farmiga has joined the cast of Godzilla: King of the Monsters

Last Updated on July 31, 2021

Back in late January, it was confirmed that TRICK 'R TREAT and KRAMPUS director Michael Doughrety will be the man behind the camera for GODZILLA: KING OF THE MONSTERS. For a lot of people, myself included, this was a most-welcomed bit of movie-related news. Doughrety has certainly proven himself to be a man with vision, as evidenced by his holiday-horror flicks that have both been labeled as instant cult-classics by reviewers and fans all around the globe. It should be interesting to see what Doughrety does with such a high-profile and classic movie monster as Godzilla, though we've still got a ways to go before we see the finished product.

Today, it's been announced that actress Vera Farmiga will be joining the cast alongside Millie Bobby Brown, Kyle Chandler, and Ken Wantanabe. Farmiga will be stepping into the role of Millie Bobby Brown's character's mother, opposite Kyle Chandler who is slated to play Brown's father, for Legendary's forthcoming bit of monster-related mayhem.

GODZILLA: KING OF THE MONSTERS is part of Legendary and Warner Bros. planned Monsterverse film initiative. The first in the series is the Gareth Edwards-directed KONG: SKULL ISLAND (which is set to beat its chest in theaters on March 10, 2017), then to be followed by the release of GODZILLA: KING OF THE MONSTERS on March 22, 2019. The next film slated for the series will be a good ol' fashioned beat-down between two of the most iconic movie monsters ever in GODZILLA VS. KONG, which is expected to smash into theaters on May 29, 2020

For now, you can catch Vera Farmiga as Norma Louise Bates on the fifth and final season of A&E's BATES MOTEL, Monday nights at 10 pm EST.

GODZILLA: KING OF THE MONSTERS will start its production schedule on June 19, 2017 in Atlanta, Georgia.
