Very brief but very awesome clip from Rise of the Planet of the Apes

Even if the release date shift and the title change signified bad – or at the very least, worrying – signs for RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES, the following clip from the reboot has got to be considered encouraging. It’s only four seconds long, but it’s a pretty damn impressive first look at the magic WETA is working on the Rupert Wyatt film. Just like the first image we saw from the flick, I assume we’re looking at Andy Serkis’ “Caesar” character; if that’s the case, it’s a really splendid piece of effects work.

The short video originates from RISE’s official Facebook page, which also provided the title card treatment you see above. Also, the official AVATAR Facebook page will also be unveiling a behind-the-scenes video on Wednesday (I assume it’s showing up there because of the WETA connection), so keep your eyes peeled for that, as I guarantee we’ll be flinging it your way like so much monkey-poo!

The film stars James Franco, Freida Pinto, John Lithgow, Brian Cox, Tom Felton, and Andy Serkis; it comes out AUGUST 5th.
