Video shows Joker’s stair dance being filmed

Last night, JOKER was a winner at the Golden Globes, with Joaquin Phoenix taking home the "Best Actor – Drama" award for his performance as the film's title character and composer Hildur Guðnadóttir winning for "Best Original Score". The Oscar nominations will be announced next week, and while we wait to see which awards JOKER will be nominated for – I don't think there's a question of "if" it will be nominated for something – this seems like the perfect time to take a look at a fun behind-the-scenes video.

The most iconic moment in JOKER is, of course, the one in which Phoenix is seen dancing down a staircase while Gary Glitter's "Rock and Roll Part 2" plays on the soundtrack. That staircase is located in the Bronx, and apparently right outside a family's apartment window. While the scene was being filmed on the stairs, someone in that apartment was able to capture their own footage of the moment through a window. Their "spy video" can be seen below and offers a look at the stair dance from a different angle.

Directed by Todd Phillips from a screenplay he wrote with Scott Silvers, JOKER tells the following story:

Forever alone in a crowd, failed comedian Arthur Fleck seeks connection as he walks the streets of Gotham City. Arthur wears two masks — the one he paints for his day job as a clown, and the guise he projects in a futile attempt to feel like he's part of the world around him. Isolated, bullied and disregarded by society, Fleck begins a slow descent into madness as he transforms into the criminal mastermind known as the Joker.

Phoenix is joined in the cast by Robert De Niro, Frances Conroy, Marc Maron, Brett Cullen, and Zazie Beetz.

Made on a budget of $55 million, JOKER has earned over $1 billion at the global box office. The film reaches DVD and Blu-ray tomorrow, and copies can be purchased at THIS LINK
