Vin Diesel has obviously been very giving to his fans in terms of Riddick news; it’s actually safe to say that almost all of the news regarding the third film in the Riddick trilogy comes via Diesel’s official Facebook page. (Just peek HERE and HERE for the evidence.) It’s hard not to appreciate the man’s devotion to his fans, even if I can’t admit to being a “big” one. (Though I do like IRON GIANT quite a bit.) He obviously knows what they want in a Riddick movie, which is a down and dirty entry in the vein of PITCH BLACK as opposed to the bloated sequel, and he’s once again touting his eagerness to give them just that.
In a new video posted on Diesel’s page, which you can see HERE, the man and his partner in Riddick crime David Twohy take a moment to answer some questions posed to them via Facebook. While not much new is gleaned info-wise, the main point here is that Twohy and Diesel appear to be determined to maintain an R rating “at any cost”. Twohy also says that it will be closer to PITCH BLACK than CHRONICLES OF RIDDICK because of the “money involved” – obviously not as much as the reported $100 million the latter movie cost. He also uses the words “lean” and “quick” to describe the new film, perhaps in terms of both production schedule and the ultimate quality…
There still doesn’t seem to be any kind of greenlight for the third Riddick movie, although with Diesel’s star on the rise again and FAST FIVE poised to be yet another smash hit in that franchise, I’m sure he’ll be able to put whatever he wants into production.
