Vin Diesel has confirmed the Guardians will appear in Thor: Love and Thunder

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Late last week, Marvel's Valkyrie actress, Tessa Thompson, confirmed that Christian Bale will play the villain of the studio's fourth Thor-related film, THOR: LOVE AND THUNDER. Set to be directed and co-written by Taika Waititi alongside writer Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, the God of Thunder's next big screen adventure features the return of Natalie Portman's Jane Foster, who in some way is set to inherit Thor's mighty hammer, Mjölnir, to become Mighty Thor, the Goddess of Thunder, for the future of the MCU.

Thompson saying that Bale will play the villain in the upcoming Thor adventure arrived as a pretty big deal, though now we're hearing that Groot voice actor Vin Diesel potentially spoiled that members of the Guardians of the Galaxy superhero team are set to be featured as a part of Waititi's highly-anticipated sequel to 2017's THOR: RAGNAROK.

"I am waiting and excited for my friend James Gunn to knock this next one out of the park," Diesel said while talking up BLOODSHOT, his upcoming adaptation of the Valiant superhero comic book. "He took The Suicide Squad so he's about to embark on it. Thor will also, the director talked to me about Thor will incorporate some of the Guardians of the Galaxy." To our knowledge, this is the first time that it's been mentioned that Starlord and members of his Guardians of the Galaxy crew will appear in THOR: LOVE AND THUNDER. "That'll be very interesting, nobody knows, maybe I shouldn't have said anything." Oh Diesel, it's too late now. The journo vultures have already circled, and your words are their next meal.

As you're likely to know, THOR: LOVE AND THUNDER was originally expected to arrive after GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 3 had blasted into theaters. However, Disney had parted ways with Guardians creative James Gunn, for a time, before inviting him back to complete his Marvel trilogy. Be that as it may, the delay of Guardians Vol. 3 was enough to knock Marvel's timeline off-course, and now it would appear as if roles are reversed, and that the Guardians will guest in THOR: LOVE AND THUNDER – as opposed to Hemsworth joining the rag-tag team for their third chapter.

While Diesel's statement about the Guardians appearing in the next Thor film have yet to be confirmed by Marvel and Disney, this wouldn't be the first time that a Marvel actor has leaked info about an upcoming film while feeling comfortable in an interview chair. We'll have to wait for something more official to know if what Diesel said is a done deal, but for moment, let us all speculate wildly about how the Guardians will fit into the events of THOR: LOVE AND THUNDER, shall we?
