Vin Diesel projects

Despite dedicating his time to cross the finish line with the last Fast & Furious film, Vin Diesel has had a ton of projects in development and last year, he would give an update to his fans. This included a Groot solo movie called Planet X, which has not been officially announced as part of Marvel’s production slate as of yet. It also included an update on the next Mattel property in development, Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots. He updated, “Mattel, one of my favorite companies, is getting close to launching the testosterone-male answer to Barbie with Rock ‘em Sock ‘em!”

Who loves ya, baby?

One of the projects that Diesel seems to have had in development forever is a film version of the Telly Savalas series, Kojak. He was working on getting the movie going for a little over 13 years. Included in last year’s update, he hints at possibly finally getting to adapt Kojak as he says he’s going back to New York and pulling double duty as the director, “On top of that, I am directing the film about that infamous New York detective, which is pulling me to New York.”

Recently, Diesel has taken to his Instagram to post a teaser picture of him as Kojak, which is possibly fan art or a marketing mock-up. The picture showcases Diesel in shades, a suit and a fur coat with some stylized coloring and text at the bottom that simply says, “MYNY.” Diesel’s captions reads, “That infamous New York Detective…Talk about a complex character… New York, told by its own blood.” Check it out below.

Fast Forever filming

Meanwhile, Vin has just posted a video on his Instagram that announces the start of production for Fast Forever. He again teases his other projects, like a follow-up to The Last Witch Hunter. “I’m on set,” Diesel says while introducing the video. “People are grinding. Incredible crews are working. I want to take a second to say thank you. You guys are the best audience in the world. The best fans in the world. You’ve been patient with the industry. You’ve been patient to the studio, and you’ve been patient with me,” Diesel continues, with gratitude. “Over a packed three and a half years, we’ve been grinding to try and make the most amazing finale. At times, I’ve been lucky to embark on other characters like Kaulder and Riddick, or write the script I’m so excited about for Rock’Em Sock’Em Robots: From the Top. Through it all, one thing I know is I can feel your support, and that means the world to me. So, let me get back to this filming, and know that I hope to make you all proud.”
