I thoroughly enjoyed David Cronenberg’s EASTERN PROMISES, the violent tale of internal struggle in the Russian mob. But after it was over never once did it cross my mind that a sequel will get made.
But that is the case, and a member of the original cast has committed to reprising his role in the next installment. Speaking to Coming Soon, Vincent Cassel said that he is on board.
“We talked very seriously about ‘Eastern Promises 2’ and it’s going to be shot in Russia with Viggo and myself.”
Cronenberg is currently shooting A DANGEROUS METHOD, his Sigmund Freud tale with Viggo, and presumably will head to the snowy plains of Russia soon after that from the PROMISES sequel. eanwhile, Cassel has a role in Darren Aronofsky’s BLACK SWAN and has another film on deck where “It’s going to be a huge action, supervillain movie, $70* million Euros, Jean Reno and myself, and it’s supervillains with high technology” shot with director Christophe Gans.
