As much as I loved the late Michael Clarke Duncan as Kingpin in the often maligned 2003 DAREDEVIL movie, I am very excited at the newly revealed casting news that Vincent D’Onofrio will play the villainous mob boss in the new Netflix series. D’Onofrio will play opposite BOARDWALK EMPIRE actor Charlie Cox in the show being produced by Drew Goddard and Steven S. DeKnight.

Vincent D’Onofrio has made a career out of playing disturbed or evil characters. From his batshit turns in FULL METAL JACKET and THE CELL to MEN IN BLACK and the upcoming JURASSIC WORLD, D’Onofrio is a solid choice. He has the stature, the gravity, and the bald head that will make him a force to be dealt with. D’Onofrio is no stranger to the small screen either having starred on LAW AND ORDER: CRIMINAL INTENT for years.

I am loving this choice and am even more excited than I was when it was first announced. If Marvel had elected to go with a big screen DAREDEVIL, I would still think these choices for lead hero and villain would be perfectly cast. Here’s hoping they fill the rest of the roster of characters will equal talent.
