In the lead up to this year’s awesomely promising Halloween Horror Nights, Universal Studios has partnered with the Chiller channel to crown the best (“Scary Good”) horror-short from a submission pool of over 100 competing films (which range from 90-180 seconds in length).
And the best part about the (Halloween Horror Nights-Chiller Scary Good Film) Competition is we can all vote online for our favorite of the Top 10 whittled down by a panel of industry judges, including SAW VI director Kevin Greutert, SyFy’s Executive VP of Programming and Original Movies, Thomas P. Vitale, as well as John Murdy, Creative Director of Halloween Horror Nights.
The main criteria for film judgment includes: storytelling skill, originality and the use of a “good scare.”
The generous prize-package awarded to the winner includes: an opportunity to have their scariest short film rewarded with a broadcast on Chiller of their work, a $1,000 cash prize and a trip for two to the October 2nd opening night of Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Hollywood.
The winning film will be announced on September 25th. Here’s the list of finalists:
