David Keating’s WAKE WOOD (pictured above) has just hit DVD and Blu-ray here in the US, and it was well worth the wait. A sort of Gaelic spin on PET SEMATARY, the movie contains a a dread-filled atmosphere and shows off a handful of pretty unnerving visuals; a perfect new entry in the revived canon of Hammer Films.
Keating looks like he wants to keep playing with creepy kids, as the helmer has told Fangoria that his next effort will focus on a devil baby of the most literal sort.
“THE CHERRY TREE is really about how much a daughter loves her dad. It’s a contemporary film, set in the U.S., and it’s the story of a single father who lives with his 16-year-old daughter, and to save his life, she has Satan’s baby. As anyone would, really. Wouldn’t you?”
Ummm… I’ll have to think about that one.
No further details are provided for THE CHERRY TREE, but Keating goes on to add that there’s “a visual effects component that’s going to be very creepy, visually.”
