War for the Planet of the Apes adds Chad Rook as a human

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

Almost every cast member that has been confirmed for WAR FOR THE PLANET OF THE APES to date has been said to be playing one of the apes. Andy Serkis, Judy Greer, Steve Zahn, Karin Konoval, Aleks Paunovic, Sara Canning, all apes. The only humans we have are Gabriel Chavarria as one of the leads and Woody Harrelson as a character known as the Colonel, the human villain of the piece. Exactly what role child actress Amiah Miller will be playing has yet to be announced.

You can't have much of a war with a bunch of apes fighting two guys and maybe a little girl, so we need to get more humans in here. In a step in the right direction for homo sapiens, there are now three human characters confirmed, as Chad Rook has joined the cast as a soldier under the command of the Colonel.

Rook has several genre credits to his name, going all the way back to an uncredited role as a soldier in DREAMCATCHER. Those credits include appearances on Supernatural, Bates Motel, and iZombie. Viewers of The Flash may know him for playing the character Clyde Mardon.

Currently filming, WAR FOR THE PLANET OF THE APES is the ninth feature in the APES franchise and a direct follow-up to 2011's RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES and 2014's DAWN OF THE PLANET OF THE APES.

DAWN director Matt Reeves has returned to the helm for this installment, working from a screenplay he wrote with Mark Bomback.

WAR FOR THE PLANET OF THE APES will invade theatre screens on July 14, 2017.
