Wow, I completely forgot about this one…

More than a year ago we told you about Leo DiCaprio’s intention of keeping his cinematic dark streak intact by starring in a period-set serial killer flick called THE DEVIL IN THE WHITE. Well, after 12 months of developing and shopping, Warner Bros. has acquired the film and will jointly produce with Leo’s Appian Way shingle. Not only that, a writer has been settled upon…

Deadline reported last week that Graham Moore is going to adapt Erik Larsen’s 2003 novel THE DEVIL IN THE WHITE CITY: MURDER, MAGIC AND MADNESS AT THE FAIR THAT CHANGED AMERICA to the big screen. Moore recently submitted THE IMITATION GAME that Warner Bros. bought, so he’s a hot commodity at this point. Check out what he’s tasked of transforming for the big screen with DEVIL:

Bringing Chicago circa 1893 to vivid life, THE DEVIL IN THE WHITE CITY intertwines the true tale of two men – Daniel H. Burnham, the brilliant architect behind the legendary 1893 World’s Fair, striving to secure America’s place in the world; and Dr. H.H. Holmes (DiCaprio), the cunning serial killer who used the fair to lure his victims to their death in his elaborately constructed “Murder Castle.”

I’m into it. It’s like Depp in FROM HELL or Cusack in THE RAVEN…DiCaprio’s getting sick with it, a trait I admire more and more with each film he does.
