Warner Bros. TV came to the defense of actor Dougray Scott after his former Batwoman co-star Ruby Rose continued to make further accusations against him on social media.
The studio, per “Deadline“, called Scott, who played Kate Kane/Batwoman’s father, Colonel Jacob Kane on the show, a “consummate professional” and went on to say that there has never been any “allegation against him of bullying, or of abusive behavior on his part.” The studio also doubled down on the notion that Rose was fired over “multiple complaints about workplace behavior.” Here is what they had to say about Scott in their full statement:
“We condemn the comments made by Ruby Rose about Dougray Scott. Warner Bros. has found Mr. Scott to be a consummate professional and never received any allegation against him of bullying, or of abusive behavior on his part. Mr. Scott was greatly respected and admired by his colleagues, and was a leader on the set. Warner Bros. Television did not pick up Ruby Rose’s option for an additional season because of multiple complaints about workplace behavior that were extensively reviewed by the Studio.”
The studio’s defense of the actor comes after Rose blasted Scott over the weekend along with threatening legal action against executive producer Greg Berlanti. Rose stated in one of her Instagram stories “Dougray. I have too many witnesses coming forward with worse than just your anger Issues [stet].. but ur sueing me for 10 million cos @gberlanti shared his lawyer with you.. please.. come first so I can use the money from that case to take on g berlanti.” It’s really hard to tell what the actress is referring to because it appears Scott has not filed a lawsuit against her but he did issue a pretty strongly worded statement after Rose made her initial claims public. The actress accused him of misconduct on set including allegedly being abusive to women on the show and for hurting a female stunt double. Responding to that allegation Scott said, “As Warner Bros. Television has stated, they decided not to exercise the option to engage Ruby for season two of Batwoman based on multiple complaints about her workplace behaviour. I absolutely and completely refute the defamatory and damaging claims made against me by her; they are entirely made up and never happened.”
Ruby Rose gained headlines after releasing a slew of Instagram stories that slammed The CW, Warner Bros. Television, and Berlanti Productions for alleged toxic behavior on set that, according to her, made her leave the series in May 2020. I have a feeling we haven’t heard the last of this because Rose seems steadfast in her claims while the other parties seem pretty steadfast in theirs as well.
