Warrior season 3 on the way as it moves to HBO Max

Once upon a time, Bruce Lee developed a potential TV series about a martial artist in the American Old West. Networks weren't interested, but Warner Bros. allegedly took that concept and transformed it into Kung Fu, the '70s series starring David Carradine, and gave Lee no credit. Decades later, the original concept was brought back to life as Warrior, an action-packed series that stars Andrew Koji as Ah Sahm, a martial arts prodigy who emigrates from China to San Francisco under mysterious circumstances and becomes a hatchet man for one of Chinatown’s most powerful crime families.

Warrior has aired for two seasons on Cinemax and it was announced today that it has been renewed for a third season, but that renewal comes with a change of address as the series will now call HBO Max home. "Warrior introduced viewers to a distinct world from the past, executed with dynamic action and relevant storytelling, with a brilliant cast led by Andrew Koji," said Casey Bloys, Chief Content Officer at HBO and HBO Max. "We can’t wait to see what Jonathan, Justin and Shannon will bring to the next chapter of this series on HBO Max." Executive producer Shannon Lee added, "Justin, Jonathan, and I were thrilled when Warrior was put on HBO platforms to be discovered by a whole new legion of fans. Now we are excited and grateful for the opportunity to do another season, and we applaud HBO Max for understanding the importance of telling this story and for continuing to support this level of representation in our industry. I just know that my father is grinning right now to see this show he dreamed of so long ago continuing to beat the odds. We have every intention of delivering the same high level of meaningful storytelling and Gung Fu action in Season 3."
