Actor Sean Penn’s sense of humor has been on an extended vacation (aside from his deadpan “Colbert Report” appearance), so it’s nice to see him acknowledge an important part of his past — stoner surfer Jeff Spicoli from FAST TIMES AT RIDGEMONT HIGH.
At Spike’s Guys Choice 2011, Penn got up on stage with director Amy Heckerling and other contributors (how did I forget Forest Whitaker was in that??) to accept an award (from Robert DeNiro) for the classic comedy, and gave an all-too-short in-character shout-out.
