Only five days have gone by since the eight episodes of the Addams Family series Wednesday made their debut on the Netflix streaming service, so we don’t have any news on a Wednesday season 2 just yet. But the show’s creators and showrunners Al Gough and Miles Millar are hoping the show will continue – and in an interview with TV Line, they gave some hints as to what we could expect to see in another batch of episodes.

Wednesday is described as

a comedic, supernaturally-infused coming-of-age series that follows the teenage girl’s years as a student at Nevermore Academy, where she attempts to master her emerging psychic ability, thwart a monstrous killing spree that has terrorized the town, and solve a mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago — all while navigating her new relationships at Nevermore. Snap snap.

Jenna Ortega plays Wednesday, with Isaac Ordonez as Pugsley and Luis Guzmán and Catherine Zeta-Jones as Gomez and Morticia.

Gough said the Wednesday character would continue to grow in a potential season 2. “The series is really about a girl who sees the world in black and white, and learning there are shades of gray. I think like any relationship or any friendship, it can get complicated by other factors. It’s never going to be smooth sailing. And it’s really her learning to navigate the ups and downs of friendship.

Millar added that they’re hoping to give Wednesday’s family some more screen time in the next season. “We felt like we just touched the surface with those characters and the actors are so amazing in those roles. Catherine is, I think, an iconic Morticia. The relationship between Wednesday and Morticia is also essential to the show, and the idea that Wednesday is trying to forge her own path outside the family is important.

That said, the title of the show is Wednesday, so the focus will always be on that character. “(We) definitely want to feature the family as we did this season in a couple of episodes if we were to get a second season.
