Runaway Gene Simmons

Last April, we caught word that Wesley Snipes would be starring in a sci-fi thriller called TEMPLE, the first film in a three genre picture deal between WWE Studios and Gene Simmons' production company Erebus Pictures (named after the Greek god of darkness). Since we last heard about that project, it has undergone a title change to ARMED RESPONSE and the North American distribution rights have been picked up by Saban Films.

Directed by John Stockwell (TURISTAS) from a screenplay by Matt Savelloni, ARMED RESPONSE

follows a team of highly trained operatives who find themselves trapped inside an isolated military compound after its AI is suddenly shut down. The crew begins to experience strange and horrific phenomena as they attempt to uncover what killed the previous team.

Snipes is joined in the cast by Anne Heche, Dave Annable, WWE wrestler Seth Rollins, and Simmons himself.

A fan of Simmons' performances in the '80s classics TRICK OR TREAT, RUNAWAY (pictured above), and NEVER TOO YOUNG TO DIE, I am really excited to hear that he has decided to step back in front of the camera for this one. Ideally it would be more than a cameo. Is it too much to hope that he's playing one of the highly trained operatives?

Saban Films haven't announced their release plan for ARMED RESPONSE yet. Hopefully it won't be long before they do. The film is currently in post-production.
