When Bugs Attack

I hate bugs. Especially life size bugs. Ever since David Cronenberg’s vision of THE FLY, man-sized bugs have kind of grossed me out. Now the Sci-Fi Channel has a new giant bug movie looking to gross us out and scare us silly.

MANSQUITO, the new film by Tibor Takas (THE GATE) and starring Musetta Vander (MORTAL KOMBAT: ANNIHILATION) is about a group of scientists trying to find the cure for the West Nile Virus by testing vaccine’s on death row inmates. Now that’s a good idea !- until one of them goes nuts in the lab, and is splashed with some sort of scientific concoction as he’s trying to escape. The crazy inmate then begins to mutate into a half-man/half-mosquito killing machine, looking to suck the blood out of everything it comes across.

Well, it definitely sounds….fun. And the new looks cool… It also looks like it could suck (haha). I’m all for movies like this because they’re damn entertaining, even if a little mindless. Now given, it’s going to air on the Sci-Fi Channel, but the trailer shows some gore, and some skin- so things are looking up for this cable flick.

Be sure to tune in to MANSQUITO on the Sci-Fi Channel when it airs next spring. And don’t forget the bug repellent.
