Marlon Wayans has a controversial idea for the setting of White Chicks 2

With Scary Movie hitting theaters today, the Wayans are officially back to inflict their particular brand of comedy onto an unsuspecting and cringe-prone public. While the Scary Movie trailers racked up some of the biggest numbers in the YouTube game ahead of the film’s release, the film is getting slammed by critics, but it remains popular with casual audiences. To put things in perspective, Scary Movie currently has a 20% Rotten score on the Tomatometer, while the Popcornmeter sits at 70%. Despite negative reviews, Scary Movie stands to make a lot of money, giving the Wayans a reason to keep mining old material for a new generation of fans. Recently, Marlon Wayans teased the return of Marcus Copeland (Marlon Wayans) and Kevin Copeland (Shawn Wayans) in a sequel to the 2004 buddy comedy White Chicks. While speaking with Variety about plans, Marlon revealed where the Wilson sisters could appear next. Yup, you guessed it (because it’s in the headline), Mar-a-Lago!

Marlon Wayans on the Wilson sisters going to Mar-a-Lago

“That’s not a terrible idea! I just had that conversation with my big brother and I shot him down. ‘White Chicks’ can go anywhere, but Mar-a-Lago and Florida would definitely be a fun place to make that happen and see our girls in that world. ‘White Chicks’ are like Medea — you can send them to space and they’ll be funny. I wanna do ‘A Very White Chicks Christmas.’ I have a different idea, but we’re discussing. And we’ll find the right place to put them.”

Sending the Wilson sisters to Trump’s Mar-a-Lago sounds like a comedy goldmine, though I imagine the Wayans could encounter some pushback once word reaches certain channels. You need a sense of humor to let the Wayans run rampant in a place like that, and somehow, I don’t think they’d be welcome with open arms. Still, it’s a fun concept to imagine, and out of morbid curiosity, I’d like to see them pull it off. The Wilsons can go almost anywhere and be funny, so it may be in the brotherly duo’s best interest to pop up somewhere else.

Our thoughts on Scary Movie

JoBlo’s Tyler Nichols reviewed Scary Movie for the site, and, unfortunately, he did not find it funny. In his review, Tyler writes, “Part of me hoped that Scary Movie 6’s release would bring back parody films in a more significant way. It’s a subgenre I’ve always enjoyed and this film proves why we need them: it’s good to laugh at ourselves. But I’m just not sure if this will cause the seismic shift that I was hoping for as it doesn’t really succeed at the most important thing: being funny. Many of the jokes felt like ones the writer’s had been sitting on for decades, making them immediately feel dated. And I’m just not sure how this will connect with anyone who doesn’t already have a pre-established link with the franchise.”
