Dark Horizons got wind of an interview with director Neil La Bute recently, who’s the man behind THE WICKER MAN remake, starring international action star Nicolas Cage.
Neil who? Oh yes, the director of NURSE BETTY… Anyway, he talks about what it’s like remaking the classic so far, and his intentions of why he’s doing it over. Check it out:
“I always loved the movie and I loved the script in particular, but I never thought that it was completed so well that it couldn’t be touched again….We’ll probably lose ‘The’, so it’ll actually be Wicker Man. That gives it some distance so Christopher Lee doesn’t come over here and kick my ass… [Cage] will be in the Edward Woodward role. But not as a virgin… I don’t think I could get away with that. There’s only so much a movie will take!”
Hey, at least the guy has a sense of humor about the whole thing! That makes me feel a little better about the project, which still falls under the ‘unnecessary’ category of remakes in my book. Filming is set to be in (surprise, surprise) Vancouver, B.C., as the setting is in America (and not Ireland).

Hey, she starred with Cage in GONE IN 60 SECONDS, do we need any other reason to show her off? I think not…
