Will Ang Lee take the place of Steven Spielberg to direct Gods and Kings? Will David Fincher helm the adaptation of Gone Girl?

Ang Lee was quite the surprise when he was announced as the winner of the “Best Director” category at the 2013 Academy Awards. I think we were all fairly certain that Steven Spielberg was going to take that award home. But he lost out, and Lee was more than happy to accept. LIFE OF PI was a beautiful movie, and Lee was certainly deserving of the acclaim. What were wondering now is– what will he take on next?

Steven Spielberg has dropped the Moses pic, GODS AND KINGS. Warner Bros. are now looking to Lee to possibly fill his spot. Lee is said to be intrigued by doing the film. The script was written by Michael Green and Stuart Hazeldine.

Now let’s move on to a possible directing job for David Fincher.

It’s not just a passing fancy– it’s getting serious. Fincher could be bringing Gillian Flynn’s best seller, GONE GIRL to the big screen. Pacific Standard’s Reese Witherspoon and Bruna Papandrea (WARM BODIES) are on as producers. Witherspoon has not expressed any desire to play the lead. The film centers on, “a woman who disappears on the day of her fifth anniversary and all roads point to her husband as the killer.” Flynn wrote the first draft of the screenplay.

What do you think about these possible match-ups?
