Will Bladerunner 2049 finally tell us if Deckard is a replicant or not?

Last Updated on July 31, 2021

No.

You can stop reading now if you want.

For those of you still with me, there's an interview with BLADE RUNNER 2049's director Denis Villeneuve for French Magazine Allocine (via Playlist). When asked about the fact that having an older Harrison Ford cast in the new film seems to prove that Deckard is in fact human, Villeneuve responded:

Not necessarily.

The debate rages on! Even though Ridley Scott has already affirmatively confirmed Deckard was in fact a replicant, stating that the inclusion of the Unicorn scene in the 1992 cut is supposed to hint at that. However, Harrison Ford, in a 2013 AFI interview, said "I thought it was important that the audience be able to have a human representative on screen, somebody that they could have an emotional understanding of."

So what do you guys think? Replicant or not?

Either way, BLADE RUNNER 2049 will be blade running to theaters October 6th, 2017
