Critics Choice Super Awards winners announced

The winners have been announced for the first inaugural Critics Choice Super Awards and Palm Springs and Soul were the big winners on the film side of things while The Boys dominated television with multiple wins.

The Critics Choice Super Awards honors the best of the best in superhero, science fiction/fantasy, horror, action, and animation movies and series. Our very own Chris Bumbray is a voting member of the CCA so I'm sure he had some tough choices to make from the list of worthy nominees. In regards to movies, Palm Springs and Soul led the film wins with three each. Palm Springs was recognized for Best Science Fiction/Fantasy Movie, Best Actor in a Science Fiction/Fantasy Movie (Andy Samberg), and Best Actress in a Science Fiction/Fantasy Movie (Cristin Milioti). Pixar's Soul earned Best Animated movie as well as Best Voice Actor in an Animated Movie (Jamie Foxx) and Best Voice Actress in an Animated Movie (Tina Fey).

On the television side of things, Amazon's The Boys was the big winner of the night as the popular series took home four awards. The Boys earned Best Superhero Series, Best Actor in a Superhero Series (Antony Starr), Best Actress in a Superhero Series (Aya Cash), and Best Villain in a Series (Antony Starr).  Starr was the only actor to take home multiple awards for his work. 

The ceremony also presented the Legacy Award to the Star Trek franchise, recognizing the cultural impact it has had across multiple decades while continuing to appeal to and grow its loyal fanbase with new stories and characters. Star Trek icon Patrick Stewart, and Star Trek: Discovery star Sonequa Martin-Green were on-hand to accept this special honor, which came as the franchise celebrates its 55^th anniversary.  

The Critics Choice Super Awards was hosted by Kevin Smith and Dani Fernandez and they aired The CW on January 10, 2021, at 8:00 ET/PT. In cased you missed it, the award show is available to stream for free on The CW App and cwtv.com.
