Winston does Monster

Stan Winston may be the grand-master of cinematic monster making effects- which is impressive, considering today’s obsession with CGI. Giving us a few monster hard-on’s with ALIEN, PREDATOR, and THE TERIMINATOR (and let’s not forget PUMPKINHEAD), the guy has proven himself a billion times over- and it looks like he’s gearing up for even more monster action!

The gig? Corbin Bernsen’s MONSTERS. Yes, he’s making monsters for a movie called MONSTERS, and yes, the movie was created by muf*ckin’ Corbin Bernsen (formerly known as THE DENTIST). Once you’ve gotten that down, check out the very broad and non-revealing concept for the flick:Monsters is a sci-fi thriller with epic implications, yet grounded in a humorous, romantic relationship between its two principal characters: a too young to be burnt out Ivy League professor, and a sassy English jetsetter.

I still don’t see what monsters have to do with that storyline, but with Winston on board for creature effects, I’m guessing that there really are monsters in it, and it’s not just a play on words. Not only did Bernsen write it, but his production company Public Media Works, Inc. is producing… and Bernsen is stoked as hell about it: We are absolutely thrilled to be working with Stan and Stan Winton Productions on ‘Monsters’. See?

Well, since Stan and his Workshop have created some f*cked up shit in the past, and Bernsen just seems like a whack-job, I’d have to say that this flick has me seriously intrigued. Will it be the best ever? Probably not, but more than likely, it’ll be a whole lotta fun.
