Wonder Woman shatters expectations with box office milestone!

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

There's no doubt about it, WONDER WOMAN is a force to be reckoned with at the box office.

As it stands, Warner Bros. and DC's first female super hero solo adventure has been out for less than three weeks and has already gone on to earn $601.6 million in worldwide receipts. When dividing up the earned totals, we can see that, as of this past Wednesday night, $289.2 million of those greenbacks are domestic earnings with the remaining $312.4 million being added to the coffers overseas.

The success of WONDER WOMAN is a considerable boon for Warner Bros. and DC Comics, whose projections had the Amazonian warrior princess earning far less than what's been collected in ticket sales thus far. Furthermore, the big numbers earned by the Patty Jenkins-directed action blockbuster have prompted several studios to explore the possibility of bringing new and different female characters and filmmakers onto the scene.

Thankfully, it's been reported that Jenkins is already involved in drafting a script for the planned sequel, so there's a chance that we'll be seeing more of Diana's solo-badassery sooner rather than later.

WONDER WOMAN starring Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Connie Nielsen, Robin Wright, Danny Huston, David Thewlis, Lucy Davis, Elena Anaya is still in theaters right now!
