Worldbreaker: Brad Anderson to direct sci-fi action creature feature

Brad Anderson, a director whose credits include Session 9 and The Call, was recently hired to direct the zombie film Twilight of the Dead, which is based on a treatment left behind by the great George A. Romero when he passed away in 2017. Twilight of the Dead is expected to start filming in Puerto Rico by the end of this year – and Deadline reports that Anderson has already lined up the project he’ll be making after he works with Romero zombies. It’s a sci-fi action creature feature called Worldbreaker, which The Exchange will be presenting to potential international distributors at the upcoming American Film Market.

Scripted by Joshua Rollins (Infinite Storm), Worldbreaker has the following synopsis: Five years ago, a tear in the fabric of reality brought creatures to our world from an alternate dimension bent on our destruction. A father hides his daughter on an island to keep her safe while he prepares her for survival and the battles to come. But when the world is about to break, no place is safe.

The film is being produced by Martin Brennan of 23ten, who holds the domestic rights.

Worldbreaker will be filming in Belfast, Northern Ireland, but won’t be able to get rolling until the Screen Actors Guild strike has come to an end.

Nat McCormick of The Exchange had this to say about the project: “Brad consistently crafts theatrical thrillers with fantastic performances. We know he will deliver a very commercial and entertaining movie and we couldn’t be more excited to introduce buyers to his vision of Worldbreaker.“

Well, I’m definitely not as hyped for Worldbreaker as I am for Twilight of the Dead, but I’m on board to see any movie Brad Anderson makes and have been ever since I caught a screening of Session 9 at a 24 hour theatrical horror marathon back in 2001. In addition to Session 9 and The Call, Brad Anderson has directed Next Stop Wonderland, Happy Accidents, The Machinist, TransSiberian, Vanishing on 7th Street, Stonehearst Asylum, Beirut, Fractured, Blood, Masters of Horror: Sounds Like, Fear Itself: Spooked, and episodes of The Wire, Fringe, and Boardwalk Empire, among many other TV credits.
