Do you love horror
movies? Do you love our very own
ARROW IN THE HEAD and want to contribute to its growth? Do you have
time to spare? Do you love dishing the scoops, researching news
stories, scouring the Net for all things horror-related and writing
about the latest and greatest to come? If so, you may just be the
ideal candidate to help fortify the HORROR NEWS
SECTION on Arrow in the
Head. Take a look at the requirements below and see if you’re
ready, able and wanting to join the JoBlo.com/Arrow in the Head
team.
Position(s):
Horror News Editor
What it is exactly?
You would be in charge of finding, writing and putting together
horror news stories every day of the week– pictures and all
(basically, the same thing that Mike Sampson and Omar Aviles do for
JoBlo.com and Matt Withers and Ammon Gilbert are currently doing on
Arrow in the Head). The person
we hire for this gig would be asked to scour the Net for scoops and news, put
them together in an entertaining and informative manner (natch) and
provide for at least 3 stories a day. Do I need to be
living in a certain area to get this job? Not at all. This job
is open to anyone from any country, any city, any street, any gas
station, residence, warehouse, farmhouse, henhouse, outhouse and
doghouse… 😉 As long as you’ve got a solid connection to the
Internet, email and can surf…you are a likely candidate “This
person would likely have to take the
afternoon shift, posting all stories between
the hours of noon
and 8pm“
How much does this
job pay? The gig pays a pretty small quarterly bonus check, but you will
also get your writing skills displayed to the world
(we get over 65,000 unique visitors/day, including the
creme-de-la-creme of the horror community), slap the gig on to your
CV/resume, receive an extra cool new email address which ends in @joblo.com,
a certain amount of “perks” and plenty of groovy real-life
Internet company work experience. Bottom line: you’d be doing it for
“the love of the game”, not the green.
What
is required of this post?
-
You must be serious
about your application, the vacant position and be, at least, 21
years old. -
You must be an
excellent writer, bar-none. If you send us an email with
spelling and grammatical errors, it will not be considered. Our
kind of humor helps as well, but professionalism is most
important. -
You must LOVE, and I
stress this word again….LOVE horror movies! (and
appreciate the Arrow in the Head and JoBlo’s “style”) -
You must have basic
.html skills since they are required to enter the stories into
our system. No elaborate skills, just the basics. Experience
with graphic programs such as Photoshop, etc… is also
appreciated. -
You must be able to
commit to this job for at least a period of 6-12 months. -
An added bonus
(but not required) would be anyone who already has an
established set of “spies” or contacts in the industry
and can provide our site with more exclusive content
How
