Alien invasion movies are a dime a dozen these days. We just had THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL this past winter, and we have the upcoming DISTRICT 9 to look forward to (lucky for us, they’re both totally different). And according to the The Hollywood Reporter we have another invasion series headed to the small screen starring Noah Wyle!
The yet-to-be-titled series, which has only been greenlit for a pilot, is coming from producer Steven Spielberg, based on a concept he had at one time or another. Nice! So not only is Spielberg returning to the alien genre, but Wyle is returning to the small screen. Cool… I guess.
Written by Robert Rodat, the new series is set shortly after aliens have wiped out most of the human population, with Wyle will play the leader of a ragtag group of soldiers and civilians who struggle against the occupying alien force.
The series, if picked up, will be on the TNT network. All I need to know is that Spielberg is on board this alien invasion show… that guy knows his alien shit! Plus that Wyle character is just so darn likable. It should be interesting to see where it goes to say the least.
