I have not yet seen X-FILES: I WANT TO BELIEVE, but I’ve heard enough about it to know that it’s, shall we say, a disappointment (or “boring piece of garbage” to directly quote all of society). Yet of course, the X-Philes out there “still believe”, and I’m sure would gobble down another Mulder and Scully go-round, if only to get that gross, chalky taste I WANT TO BELIEVE left behind out of their mouths…
Dread Central is reporting that there is indeed a tentative plan to bring X-FILES back to the screen. Only this time, the screen will be the small one, where Mulder and Scully, arguably, belong.
From a DC “industry” scooper: “I understand – there was room for improvement … and there still might be. I work for Screaming Death Monkey and Spotnitz – the TERRIFIC Frank Spotnitz – told us this week that the team have already spoken about the next X-Files film. It’s likely the next release will go direct to DVD – but they’re working on the assumption they’ll have a similar budget.”
I guess that’ll work, because there’s no doubt in my mind that it would make money. Would Duchovney and Anderson actually want to do it though, considering they’ve mostly moved on with their respective lives and really don’t need to ride the X-FILES train anymore? Memo to Chris Carter and Frank Spotnitz: Don’t suck this one up…
