PITCH PERFECT 2 is one of those sequels that did inexplicably disgusting business compared to the original. Like, how-on-God’s-earth-did-this-do-that-well kind of business. Needless to say a third entry is on the way, but even if the series isn’t your cup of tea the threequel just got undeniably more badass.
Word is that ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK standout Ruby Rose is in talks to join the acapella sequel, joining series regulars Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson and Brittany Snow. This is just one in a line of diversifying roles for Rose, who will soon be a newly-minted action star as part of the casts of XXX: THE RETURN OF XANDER CAGE and RESIDENT EVIL: THE FINAL CHAPTER.
The movie is being directed by Trish Sie (from a script by Kay Cannon) who is taking over for Elizabeth Banks who directed PERFECT 2 to a $184 million domestic total ($287 million global), making it one of the highest grossing female-led ensemble movies of all time.
Rose made a huge impression on BLACK and all over social media not only for her acting prowess, but also for her stunning beauty and presence, taking the world by apoplectic shock. I’m curious to see how she migrates to non-stop action in XXX, but she looks badass enough for the part, hopefully being able to bring some edge to the PERFECT franchise.
XXX: THE RETURN OF XANDER CAGE hits theaters January 20.
