Busy Zendaya
Let’s take a look at Zendaya‘s 2026. She and Robert Pattinson appeared in the provocative A24 film The Drama. Her hit HBO show Euphoria finally premiered its final season. She would appear with Tom Holland in both Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey and Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Both of which went on to be monster box office hits, with the latter becoming the biggest domestic movie in history. She secretly married her long-time partner, Tom Holland. And this December, her epic sci-fi sequel Dune: Part Three will be released.
A24 Alex Garland Sci-Fi
After such an eventful year, it stood to reason that the star would take a break. However, that break will not last long, if it happens at all, as she still has Shrek 5 releasing next summer. But now, The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that she has signed on to star in a new sci-fi movie from Alex Garland and A24. Garland will direct the film from a script also written by him. As of now, the project does not have a title and plot details are being kept secret. The only details disclosed is that Zendaya is attached and the plan is to start filming sometime in the next year.
Garland has been cranking projects out for the last couple of years with A24’s Civil War and Warfare. He had also reunited with Sony and Danny Boyle on the recent 28 Years Later entries, which still has one planned sequel left.
Shrek 5
Next year sees Zendaya join the Shrek franchise as Shrek and Fiona’s daughter Felicia, along with Marcello Hernandez (Saturday Night Live, Happy Gilmore 2) and Skyler Gisondo (Superman, Booksmart) as Felicia’s brothers, Fergus and Farkle.
Shrek 5 is directed by acclaimed filmmakers and Shrek franchise veterans Conrad Vernon and Walt Dohrn. Vernon was a member of the directing team on the Academy Award nominated Shrek 2 as well as on DreamWorks Animation’s Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted and Monsters vs. Aliens. Vernon has also provided the voice of Shrek fan-favorite Gingerbread Man, aka “Gingy,” across all titles in the Shrek Universe. Dohrn worked on the second and third Shrek films as a writer and artist and as Head of Story on the fourth film. Dohrn also voiced the character of Rumpelstiltskin in Shrek Forever After. Dohrn served as co-director on the first Trolls film and directed Trolls World Tour and Trolls Band Together.
